Shauna Lee Lange Arts Advisory has created a new program called “Art in the Valley” as part of the business development efforts of the Eisenhower Valley district of Alexandria, Virginia.  The art program consists of displays of local artists’ original artwork in lobbies of office buildings, theatres, law firms, universities, hotels, cafes, large corporations, and small businesses.

The artwork is rotated on an eight week basis and is offered for sale.  Displayed artwork improves the appearance of the Eisenhower Valley area and helps to maintain a pleasant image and strong ties to the community at large.  The artistic works encourage passers-by to appreciate the work of local artists and to consider the role of art in everyday life. The audience for this program includes tourists, employees working in and around the buildings, and residents who live in and utilize the services of business located in the Valley.  The program assists artists in marketing their artwork through exhibit opportunities, curatorial services, publicity packages, and seminars on professional development.

A commission from the sales of artwork, annual membership fees paid and fund-raising venues help to fund the program.  Similar programs already exist in Maryland and Washington, DC.  Interested Eisenhower Valley business owners should contact Shauna Lee Lange Arts Advisory to display art in street level windows, vacant storefronts, lobbies, and/or public areas of office buildings, cafes or restaurants.  The program can also be an excellent way for business owners to start a corporate art program.

Interested metropolitan DC artists (within local commuting distance) should apply by submitting at least 5 samples of work, labeled with size, medium, price, and year of execution, along with a bio and full contact information so work can be reviewed to determine if it is appropriate for the Art in the Valley program to shaunaleelange@gmail.com.  Art in the Valley is a for-fee program and Art in the Valley reserves discretion for selection and placement of artwork.  Eisenhower Valley is located just outside the Old Town district of Alexandria, VA and is the new home of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
