Allison Pasarew Art

You are cordially invited to the opening reception of new artwork by local artist Allison Pasarew.

Thursday, February 5th from 6-9pm at Dougherty’s Irish Pub.

These new drawings have never been shown to the public so come out and see their debut.

Allison Pasarew graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2002. Since her return to Baltimore from Detroit, she has been working on mixed media drawings on stretched linen that range from representational to abstract and focus on the beauty of the mechanical object. These drawings are a body of work in their own right, yet are now a part of her “Expanded Formats.”

Remember this show is at Dougherty’s Irish Pub!

alexandria del ray's a show of hands MOVES

In Uncategorized on January 16, 2009 at 4:33 pm

Our exciting news is that A Show of Hands has an opportunity to move into one of the best retail spaces in Del Ray on the corner of Del Ray and Mt. Vernon Avenue across from St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub because the owner of Eight Hands Round, which currently occupies that space, is retiring. The move will give us more visibility and more space and it’s only half a block from our current location.

Because of that, we have to reduce our inventory and we ask artists to pick up anything that’s been here longer than three months. Please call us to set up an appointment before February 7th.

Thanks,
Maria and Pat

Maria and Pat in the shop

Owners Maria Wasowski and Pat Miller opened the doors at A Show of Hands on November 25, 2005. Their dream was to represent the diversity of local artists by providing them with a venue to showcase and sell their work. All items are unique and handcrafted and the shop has quickly become the place to get a one-of-a-kind gift or piece of jewelry.

The shop has a diverse range of offerings and all pieces are taken on consignment. Some of the artists are well known, while others are just starting out. Currently, more than 200 artists are represented, including Patrick O’Brien, Alice Kale, Leah Sturgis, Paige Ireland, and Ginny Steinhauer (The Girl Upstairs). The inventory is constantly changing so check out the window displays each month.

The events in the middle east and the new methods of presentation are vital in our dissemination of information. I thought to share with you a preview of a new body of work further inspired from this recent conflict.
