Great news! artdc.org is starting a gallery and studio space in Hyattsville MD. Address to be announced! We are taking over the curatorial responsibilities of the Lustine gallery in the Hyattsville Arts District.
artdc in Hyattsville will be a working gallery as a project developed by artdc.org where art is presented in a professional manner as artists create art in the same space producing a phenomenal synergy between activity of producing art and the creativity experience. This 900 square foot space in the Lustine community center in Hyattsville, MD and develops exhibitions representing the work of artdc.org members while allowing the community and the world at large an opportunity to view their work, and the creative experience in action. The Hyattsville space provides a vital opportunity for Washington, DC metro area artists to display and create work, which we believe will become an essential part of the Hyattsville Arts District.
Details:
1) Developers have created a community center in the rehabilitated Lustine Auto Show Room which includes roughly a 500 Square foot gallery with a 400 square foot studio space.
2) A working gallery will develop in this space, which will include room for both exhibition and the creation of art.
3) There will be 20 studio resident artists to start with the possibility to expand in the future. Studio members will create art in the space and exhibit their work salon style in the back room.
4) Resident artists will pay an annual non-refundable initiation fee of $250.00US, and an affordable monthly fee of $45. A portion of funds will be used to purchase equipment for studio use to allow the space to function as a group art studio for these resident artists. Resident artists will have the opportunity to display work in the studio area.
5) Exhibitions will developed by curators or panels chosen by the Gallery’s parent company. Any sales developed through the studio or gallery will result in a commission of at least 30% paid to the gallery. Resident artists will also be selected through Gallery’s parent company utilizing a public call for artists.
6) Relative to market rates we are offering a substantially low cost studio to local artists, with it’s our goal to support creativity. The gallery will be an amazing opportunity to promote DC area artists and artdc.org
We will be holding a fund raiser auction to aid the development of this space. More details and images to come soon.
We look forward to your support in art donations and as art collectors! Additionally, the space will include an annual artdc.org group show, and a Patron’s Highlights Show.
