Chris and I headed over to National Harbor‘s Rosa Mexicano on a dreary, gray day for lunch and saw these authentic Mexican artworks.
We started off with the Pasilla chile soup with grilled chicken, avacado, shredded cheese, crema, and crispy tortilla strips. Chris had to eat hers cold and mine was piping hot.
Next we had the Ensalada de vegetales a la parrilla with zucchini, hearts of palm, artichokes, corn & chile rubbed red bliss potatoes in a roasted tomato-oregano vinaigrette. It was a bit on the limp side and although I noticed plenty of hearts of palm, I did not encounter one artichoke.
We had a nice seat by the window and great conversation (Chris is one interesting chick) and we finished off with a very lovely baked desert (served in a cast iron skillet) that was a type of fruit cobbler containing raspberries, apricots, raisins and a light crumbly breaded topping served with vanilla ice cream. The wait service was good, the support service was a bit poor (my soup plate didn’t get cleared until after I finished the salad) and our request to split the salad seemed to cause some difficulty. All in all, not what I expected both in interior design, decoration, and lighting or in overall experience. The time with Chris and seeing the sculptures made it worthwhile.
