brooklyn museum’s sackler center feminist art base: submit now!
You know, sometimes things just coalesce on their own without you even having to try. This morning Art Daily printed a video review of the current exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. Reflection on the Electric Mirror offers contemporary feminist videos at the museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art.
It just so happens that I was exploring the Sackler Center’s Feminist Art Base. The Art Base is the first online digital archive dedicated solely to feminist art and offers profiles of contributors from the 1960s to present. The Sackler Center hopes to create a comprehensive resource by offering feminist artists opportunities to submit materials for inclusion to the database. We’re watching this development which is presently a loose coalition of staff and interns reviewing artists’ packages when they have several on hand.
If you want to submit materials for consideration for inclusion in the center’s art base, send a letter of interest along with a CD of your images (and a SASE if you want your materials back). Expect a response in about a month to eight weeks according to a museum staff member’s telephone guidance today. Best of luck to you and go see the video show – it runs until January 10, 2010.
