The Women’s Media Center (Making Women Visible and Powerful in the Media) is headquartered in New York City. Four major programs include:
Sexism Sells (But We’re Not Buying It); Progressive Women’s Voices; Unspinning the Spin; and Women in Entertainment.
Basically, the WMC (founded in 2005) works to ensure that women’s stories are told and women’s voices are heard. They have a media advocacy campaign, they create their own media, and they train women to participate directly in the media.
