CLUAS: the center for lovingly used art supplies

Shauna Lee Lange Studios of Port Charlotte, Florida announced today that her firm will undertake a major art re-gifting and art donation distribution effort through her new enterprise, CLUAS – The Center For Lovingly Used Art Supplies.

With a movement to recycle and repurpose old materials into new things, artists finally will have an original single-source place to send discarded and donated materials for the art needy.  CLUAS will operate as a ground-breaking central arts distribution center based in Florida.

If you don’t care to use your old, outgrown, or overlooked art materials, tools, and supplies, and don’t wish to donate them to causes that may not understand their purpose, handling, or operation, you now have an opportunity to donate art tools and supplies of every kind to a needy art program which will serve the public at large.

Lange was deeply inspired to create CLUAS when she saw funding shortfalls critically impact the Florida school systems.  Many small or private schools don’t have the funding for materials so they have to be pretty creative with repurposed materials.  Many public schools have had to turn a blind eye to arts programs overall in lieu of competing demands.  The beauty of the CLUAS program is that it doesn’t start and stop at schools.  Recognizing that the art needy come in many ages, forms, and shapes, Lange would only commit at the start of her exciting venture to trying to determine exactly where art needy populations reside and to determining how to best serve them with great care and love.

Any recycling, green, sustainability, or repurposing – reusing enterprise needs at its helm a terrific organizer and with Lange’s big city background in arts administration, she felt she was aptly skilled to match donations to potential giftees.  Lange intends to immediately participate in the Green Futures Exposition in early October 2011 to more fully learn how to partner with area agencies and capitalize on current technology for the arts.  For more information on CLUAS, contact Shauna Lee Lange Studios.  CLUAS is actively seeking dedicated volunteers with multiple art skill sets.
