February – September 2011 was a period of great personal upheaval. In the midst of it all, there were gifts of such incredible color and light. We were in the Florida Keys for a variety of reasons, and found ourselves often enjoying the sea, the sun, the air, and the stars. During this time, I produced a major work “The Compulsion to Draw Circles” which contained well over 50,000 micro-circles. In addition to a whole host of other day-to-day living tasks, I art journaled. The works below are from what I now call “The Key West Diary”.
There is so much I want to share with all of you in artworks I love, my own efforts at art journaling, beautiful design and incredible creative spaces. It’s always a risk to share one’s own art journals because by nature, they are highly personal and often symbolic of larger issues. And in art journaling circles, most of us are struggling to find and maintain our own visual language and unique voice. I’ll keep this exhibition up for a few weeks, and then replace it with my compulsive circle drawing so you can see one artist’s varied range. Enjoy!
